Airline Tickets

Airline tickets are your contract with the airline company. It will tell you what they agree to do and what you have agreed to as well. Keep in mind that not all airline tickets are created equal and paying more does not guarantee that you will receive more. In the end it is your job to read the fine print and understand what your airline ticket represents.

Some airlines will allow tickets to be transferred to a different party (usually for a fee). More and more, airline tickets are made NON-transferable â partly because of the heightened security that air travel faces. Be sure that you confirm the flexibility of your airline tickets before you make a purchase.

Airline tickets are always flexible from the airline companies view point (most tickets say that the airline doesn't guarantee you will leave at the same time or even the same day as your tickets declares). There are less airline tickets that are flexible from the consumer side. If you need to change your flight time then you will likely have to pay a fee to do so â if the company will allow it at all.

The truth of the airline industry is that it is not as user friendly as it once was (although it is finding its way back to customer service). Airline tickets no longer are your guarantee for a particular flight â or compensation if that flight doesn't occur. It is a "buyer beware" industry.

When it comes time to purchase airline tickets, don't just look for the best price. It may not be worth the cost in the end. Read the find print and determine what you are agreeing to before the purchase goes through. After you make the purchase of airline tickets, be sure you understand all of your rights and make the airline company stand behind those rights when you travel.
