There are a number of ways to find cheap fares when you want to save expenses on your next vacation or trip. The best way to insure that you get the best cheap fares around is to start early, be persistent and use every means at your disposal.

1. The internet is the best way around to find cheap fares for what ever adventure you desire to take. You can search the numerous discount websites (like Travelocity, Expedia or Orbitz) to find cheap fares, cheap hotels and even cheap rental cars. You can also use the internet to contact the travel companies directly and negotiate cheap fares through those sites.

2. Once you find the cheap fares be sure to check back to see if the rates drop even more. You can trade in your ticket for an upgrade, a credit or possibly a refund when the rates drop lower than your origional cheap fares. Be sure that any ticket you reserve or purchase will allow you to trade or exchange if the rates do drop in the future.

3. Contact a group that you would be interested in traveling with to your location. Sometimes groups are able to get the lowest cheap fares available because of their size, negotiation strength and even connections from past trips.

4. Watch the ads (online and in print). Some times companies will run promotional events that offer cheap fares (even at a loss for the company) in order to promote a new flight, a new resort or a new attraction.

5. Use rewards programs to help you find cheap fares. Find cards that offer miles, trips or assistance for planning your getaway. Be sure that you pay the balance off each month so you don't incur any interest.
