Air Berlin is based in Germany and is Europe's 3rd largest low-cost airline. Air Berlin has been offering services since 1978, and was recently famous for its 'Euro Shuttle' in 2005. Air Berlin is known for its low-cost model but offers complimentary food, drinks and newspapers on all flights.

Check-in Information

Passengers may check in online, via mobile devices or at the airport. Web check-in can be completed up to 30 hours and no later than 2 hours before departure with a valid e-ticket. MMS Check-in is also available for passengers who are connected to the German or Austrian mobile network; in this case, the boarding pass will be sent directly to the mobile device in the form of a barcode. AirBerlin check-in machines are available at the airport, and all passengers have the option to check in at the check-in desk.

Baggage Costs

Carry On
Passengers may take one item of hand luggage with dimensions of 22in x 16 in x 8 in (55 cm x 40 cm x 20 cm).

Checked
Passengers may travel with up to 44 lbs (20 kg) of carry-on baggage for a standard flight. Passengers staying for longer than 28 consecutive days at the destination may check luggage that weighs up to 67 lbs (30kg).

Passengers may make route or flight detail changes by contacting the reservations department. Flight information and route changes may incur additional fees and charges.

Child Fares

Children under two years of age who are seated on the adults lap may receive a 90 percent discount on the price of an adult ticket. Children under 12 years of age receive a 33 percent discount on the standard adult fare price.

Pet Fees

Pets weighing less than 13 lbs (6 kg) may be carried on the plane but kept with the passenger at all times. Pets weighing more than 13 lbs. may fly in the baggage hold in a container or cage provided by the passenger.

Carrying Musical Instruments

Baggage allowances apply to all musical instruments carried on flight or checked in as large baggage. Large instruments may also be carried in a passenger seat if the seat is paid for and reserved for by the passenger.

Airline Food

Air Berlin is one of the few airlines to offer complimentary meals aboard all flights with a minimum flying time of 90 minutes and maximum flying time of four hours.
