American Eagle
Overview
The American Eagle network is the largest regional airline system in the world and offers service to hundreds of destinations in more than 150 cities throughout the United States, Canada, the Caribbean, Mexico and the Bahamas. The airline offers several connecting flights to international airports and hubs throughout the world; AmericanConnection flights are available through a hub in St. Louis.

The majority of American Eagle flights are coordinated with American Airlines to offer efficient one-stop service to thousands of destinations around the world. The airline conducts over 1700 flights each day throughout the United States, Canada, Bahamas, Caribbean and Mexico.

Check in
Passengers are encouraged to check in at least 60 minutes prior to departure for domestic flights without bags, and 90 minutes prior to departure for domestic flights with bags. International flights to Hawaii or the U.S. Virgin Islands may require at least 2 hours for check-in, and flights departing from Mexico, Nassau and other areas of the Caribbean may require 3 hours for check-in. Passengers may call the reservations department for specific check-in details applicable to their itinerary.
Baggage
Carry on
One carryon bag is permitted per traveler, and cannot weigh more than 40 lbs or be larger than 45 inches in total dimensions.
Checked
Each passenger may take up to two items of checked luggage on their flight; checked luggage may not weigh more than 50 lbs, and cannot be larger than 62 inches in total dimensions. Customers who purchased domestic economy class tickets May 12, 2008, through June 14, 2008, may check one bag for free and check a second bag for $25 each way. Customers who purchase domestic economy class tickets on or after June 15, 2008, will be charged $15 each way for the first checked bag and $25 each way for the second checked bag.
Additional bags
Checked baggage weighing over 50 lbs/23 kgs but not more than 70 lbs/32 kgs will be charged at the rate of $50 per piece.
Checked baggage weighing over 70lbs/32 kgs but not more than 100 lbs/45 kgs will be charged at the rate of $100 per piece.
Baggage weighing more than 100 lbs/45 kgs will not be accepted as checked baggage.
Checked baggage which is larger than 62 in/157 cm will be charged at the rate of $150 per piece.
Baggage measuring more than 115 in/292 cm will not be accepted as checked baggage.
Passenger change details
Passengers may make changes to their route and ticket information by contacting the reservations department. A fee of $25 to $100 may be charged depending on the type of changes needed.
Child fares
Children under the age of five are not allowed to travel without an accompanying adult. Children under 2 years of age who can comfortably sit in an accompanying adult's lap can travel for free within the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Islands. Children under 2 years of age who must sit in a separate seat may be eligible for a discount on airfare.
Senior fares
American Eagle extends discounted airfares for senior citizens who are 65 years of age or older; contact the reservations department to learn about seasonal discounts and ticket options for your specific itinerary.
Pets
Small cats and dogs can be carried on domestic flights on American Eagle for a fee of $80 per kennel or pet carrier. A fee of $100 may be incurred for select destinations, and travelers may need to check in with pets several hours before departure.
Carrying Musical Instruments
Musical instruments must meet carryon baggage requirements, or be checked in as baggage during the check-in process. Larger musical instruments may be taken on board if the passenger has purchased a separate seat; however, some musical instruments may be too large for cabin transportation and may not be acceptable. Passengers are encouraged to check with the reservations department on specific requirements for their musical instruments.
In-flight service
In-flight services are limited to complimentary non-alcoholic drinks; snacks and alcoholic beverages are available for purchase on every flight.
Air miles
Travelers can take advantage of the AAdvantage program when flying American Eagle.
Airline food (menus)
American Eagle does not serve meals aboard any flight, but does offer snacks and beverages. Some snacks and beverages are complimentary, while gourmet items and alcoholic beverages are available for a small fee.
