Check in
Passengers can check in online up to 24 hours before their flight to save time at the airport. All passengers can also choose to use mobile check-in services, airport check-in kiosks or curbside check-in. Curbside check-in is available in nearly 100 U.S. locations.
Baggage
Carry on
Passengers may take one carry-on bag and one personal item on their flight. Carryon bags must weigh less than 40 pounds and cannot exceed 45 inches. They must also fit in an overhead bin or underneath the seat in front.
Checked
As of December 5, 2008, checked bag fees are imposed at a rate of $15 for the first bag and $25 for the second bag within the United States, U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. Passengers traveling to and from cities outside the United States may check two bags per passenger, free of charge. All bags must weigh less than 50 pounds and cannot exceed 62 inches in total length + width + height. First Class, BusinessFirst and International Business Class passengers may take 3 checked bags o on their flight with a maximum weight of 70 lbs and 62 linear inches.
Passengers traveling to and from Key West are limited to just one checked bag.
Additional bags
Excess bag fees vary depending on the number of bags and the final destination. Fees range from $50 - $200 for domestic travel in the United States and $200 - $600 for international travel. Fees are also imposed for excess weight, ranging from $90 - $300. Passenger change details
Ticket changes can be made online, but change fees do apply. Fees range between $150-$200 depending on the destination and portion of itinerary that is being modified.
Child fares
Children under two years of age may travel for free on domestic flights if they can sit comfortably in an accompanying adult’s lap. Children who are older than two years of age must pay the adult fare. Children under two years of age who are traveling on international flights will need to pay 10% of the adult fare; however, this discount varies based on the location, duration of the flight and season.
Senior fares
Senior fares and discounts are available for travelers of 62 years of age or above on select destinations and flights only.
Pets
Pets can be considered to be checked baggage for travel in the cabin, but may not travel on board during the summer months. Pet fees and restrictions vary by destination; check with the reservations agent for details on your particular situation.
Carrying Musical Instruments
Passengers may travel with musical instruments that meet standard baggage allowance requirements. In some cases, passengers may purchase an extra seat for large or fragile instruments.
In-flight service
Delta offers several entertainment options including personal video, overhead movies, Delta on Demand, music and television on select flights and classes. Delta also offers snack items, snack baskets and complimentary beverages on select flights for all passengers. Options vary by destination and duration of the flight, but passengers may also purchase gourmet menu items from the exclusive EATS Menu.
