Overview

Headquarterd in Dubai, Emirates Airline is a government-owned airline that was established in 1985. The airline has grown rapidly since then to offer a fleet of 110 planes at its main hub at Dubai International Airport. Emirates Airline is comprised of an international, award-winning cargo division, a destination management and leisure division, international ground-handler operations and is also an airline IT developer. Emirates Airline is just one of several companies that comprise The Emirates Group of global travel and tourist destination businesses.

Check in

Passengers may check in online 24 hours before their flight time and up to 2 hours before departure. All check-in desks at the airport close 90 minutes before departure for passengers who wish to check their bags at the gate, and 60 minutes before departure for those who are boarding only with carry-on luggage.

Carry on
One carry on bag is permitted on board the flight; this cannot exceed a weight of 15 lbs and dimensions of 22 x 17x 10 inches.

Checked
All classes of fliers are permitted to take up to 2 pieces of baggage. First class travelers are permitted to travel with 40 kg of baggage, business class travelers may travel with 30 kg of baggage, and economy class travelers may travel with 20 kg of baggage. These weight requirements apply only for travel to and from all destinations on the Emirates route network.

Passenger change details

Name changes are not permitted on any tickets, but passengers may make changes to their itinerary for a fee. Fees vary by destination and time that the changes are requested; passengers may contact the reservations department directly to make necessary changes.

Child fares

Children under five years of age must be accompanied by an adult. Select flights are discounted 20% for children under five years of age.

Pets

Pets may be transported in the baggage hold only on select flights; no pets are permitted in the cabin area. Passengers traveling with pets must contact the reservations department to notify them about any pets and assistance in booking the flight accordingly.

Carrying Musical Instruments

Musical instruments may be considered checked baggage or carryon luggage if they meet the weight and dimensions requirements. Passengers may also choose to purchase an extra seat for oversized musical instruments.

In-flight service

Hot meals and drinks are available on all flights of select durations. In-flight entertainment including movies, music and on-demand video is also available on select aircraft. Economy class travelers may select from a gourmet hot and cold food menu
