Overview

As one of the top discount airlines in the U.S., Jet Blue offers several deluxe services for domestic travel. The airline was founded in 1999 and completed its inaugural flight in February 2000.The company offers a customer loyalty program, BetaBlue free wireless on board and has become famous for its plush seating and spacious cabins.

Check in

Passengers are encouraged to check in at least 25 minutes before departure on domestic flights and 45 minutes before departure on international flights. Passengers may also check-in using the online check-in system on jetblue.com up to 24 hours before departure but no later than 1.5 hours before departure.

Baggage

Carry on
Passengers may bring one bat that fits in the overhead bin plus one personal item that fits in the seat in front Personal items cannot exceed 18 x 15 x 8, and overhead bin items cannot exceed 26x18x12 on Airbus A320 or 24 x 16 x 10 on EMBRAER 190 aircraft. Closets for hanging garment bags are not available.

Passengers may bring one bag free of charge; this bag cannot exceed 62 linear inches or 50 pounds.

Additional bags
Overweight, oversized and excess baggage may be checked only based on load availabity. Overweight bags that weigh between 51 - 70 pounds are charged $50 per bag, and those that weigh 71-99 pounds are charged $100 per bag. Bags over 99 pounds will not be accepted. Oversized baggage (between 63-80 inches) will be charged $75 per bag. Bags over 80 inches will not be accepted.

An additional fee of $20 for a second checked bag will be imposed, and any passengers flying with 3 or more checked bags will need to pay $75 per bag.

Passenger change details

Passengers may select or change seat information online by accessing their booking with a confirmation number and last name. Flight changes can be made online for a fee of $35 per person plus any charges for the price of the ticket. Changes made via the call center may incur a fee of $45 per person plus any charges for the price of the ticket.

Child fares

Children under the age of 2 can fly for free if they can comfortably sit on an accompanying adult's lap. A fee of $11.95 is imposed for international flights and flights to the Dominican Republic.

Pets

A $50 pet charge is imposed for dogs or cats that are carried in a container no larger than 17 x 12.5 x 8. Animals are not permitted on flights to the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico or the Bahamas.

Carrying Musical Instruments

Musical instruments are considered to be carry on or checked luggage and standard baggage allowances apply. Passengers may purchase an extra seat for oversized or fragile musical instruments.

In-flight service

Snacks and drinks are available on all flights, and specialty beverages may be purchased at an additional charge. Passengers can also enjoy DIRECTV programming, XM Satellite Radio, free wireless internet and specialty programming on every flight. Passengers can also take advantage of the BetaBlue free wireless service to send and receive e-mail and instant messages on JetBlue's BetaBlue aircraft.
