Overview

Lufthansa is the largest German airline that serves over 200 destinations domestically and internationally. The airline is based in Frankfurt where it operates out of the Frankfurt International Airport, but also has hubs at Franz Josef Strauss International Airport in Munich and Dusseldorf Airport.

Carry on
Passengers departing from UK airports are permitted to take one piece of carry-on baggage that cannot be larger than 55 x 40 x 20 cms. Passengers may take up to two pieces of hand baggage on board all flights outside of the UK. Bags cannot weigh more than 8 kg.

Lufthansa operates under a Piece Concept for all checked baggage on long-haul flights. All adult passengers can take up to two pieces of baggage in addition their carry-on free of charge. Additional bags
Excess baggage fees apply based on the route and zone of the final destination. These rates range between 5 euros/kg and 40 euros/kg. Some flights may be charged according to the 'piece concept'; check with the reservations department to determine the final rate applied.

Passenger change details

Passengers may make some changes to flight details by contacting reservations. In most cases, an administrative fee will be charged for changes depending on the time of the change and type of ticket.

Child fares

Children typically pay 75 percent of the adult fare; infants (children under the age of 24 months) who sit on an adult's lap will pay 10 percent of the adult fare.

Pets

Pets are permitted on select flights as long as they are transported in an animal carrier that is no heavier than 18 lbs and no larger than 46 linear inches.

Carrying Musical Instruments

Musical instruments are considered checked baggage or carryon and standard baggage allowances apply. Passengers may reserve a separate seat for oversized or fragile instruments.

In-flight service

Lufthansa offers a gourmet in-flight catering menu and also offers Wi-Fi Internet on board select flights for a nominal fee. Lufhansa also offers four entertainment programming categories with the enhanced Lufthansa Media World for First and Business class passengers. This includes music magazines, video options, audio-books, and board games with individually downloadable screens facing each seat. Personal screens are also available in the Economy class.
