Check in

Passengers are encouraged to check-in at least 3 hours before departure for international flights and 2 hours before departure on domestic flights. Passengers may check in at least 90 minutes before departure on international flights and 60 minutes before departure on domestic flights.

Baggage

Passenger baggage fees and charges are calculated based on weight or piece depending on the destination and route. A weight system applies for all domestic flights within the Mexican Republic, and a piece system is applied for all international flights. The total weight of bags cannot exceed 101 pounds.

Carry on
Passengers may take one piece of carry-on luggage and one personal item on both international and domestic flights. The maximum weight of carry on is 22 lbs.

Checked
Passengers flying Executive class may take up to 3 bags on national flights that cannot exceed 66 lbs each. Passengers flying Coach class may take 2 bags on national flights, and this cannot exceed 55 lbs.

Additional bags
Excess bag fees of $25 are imposed for the first 22 lbs after the baggage allowance, $100 for bags weighing between 23-55 lbs, and $200 for bags weighing between 57-111 lbs.

Pets

Some pets are permitted on flights and are checked in as baggage. A fee of $90 each way (plus taxes) is imposed on international flights and $45 each way (plus taxes) for flights within Mexico. Passengers are not permitted to travel with pets in the cabin from any flights originating in Mexico City International Airport.

Musical instruments may be considered checked baggage, but oversized and heavier instruments may occupy a paid seat.
