The airline offers clean, new airplanes, one carry-on bag luggage requirements to save space, deluxe seating and special offers for travelers who need airport parking, event tickets or hotel vacation packages. The airline is based in Fort Lauderdale and has offered flight services for 18 years.

Check in

Spirit Airlines offers online check in to all passengers, and encourages travelers to arrive at the ticket counter at least 30 minutes before departure for domestic flights, and 60 minutes for international flights. A self check-in kiosk is available at select airports. Check in begins 3 hours prior to departure at the ticket counter.

Baggage

Spirit Airlines cannot accept baggage that weighs more than 99 pounds or is larger than 80 linear inches in a single dimension (combined dimension of 160 linear inches). Baggage limitations may apply on select routes during peak holiday season (December 1 - January 10)

Carry on
Passengers may bring one item of carry-on luggage that is no larger than 24 x 16 x 12 inches and one personal item on board. The carry-on item must fit safely in the overhead bin.

Checked
Fees apply for all checked baggage, and must be paid at the airport or online. The first checked bag costs $15 online and $25 at the airport.

Additional bags
The second checked bag costs $25 online and at the airport; and third through fifth bags cost $100 each both online and at the airport. Overweight and oversized bags will incur a charge of $50-$150 depending on their weight and size.

Passenger change details

Flight changes can be made by contacting the reservations desk at least three hours before departure. Restrictions and fees vary by the type of ticket purchased; in some cases, no changes may be made to non-refundable tickets.

Child fares

Children under the age of two may fly for free if they can comfortably sit in the lap of an accompanying adult. Children ages 2 - 11 accompanied by an adult must pay the regular adult fare. Reservations must be notified of any children who will be flying with the adult. Effective January 22,2009, an unaccompanied minor fee of $100 applies each way.

Pets

Spirit Airlines does permit a maximum of 4 pet containers in the cabin on all domestic flights, but will not transport birds to/from Puerto Rico and St. Thomas, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Passengers traveling with pets must provide a container or pet carrier to safely transport their pet in the cabin; pets cannot be transported in the Cargo at any time. The carrier cannot exceed dimensions of 18" x 14" x 9", and must be able to fit under the seat. A pet fee of $100 each way will be applied for each pet, effective January 22, 2009.

Carrying Musical Instruments

Musical instruments that meet baggage requirements may be transported as checked luggage or cargo. Passengers may purchase an extra seat for oversized or fragile items.

In-flight service

Passengers may purchase snacks and beverages on board each flight. These can be purchased with a credit card or debit card.

Airline food (menus)

Coca Cola producs, Minute maid Juice, Coffee, Hot Chocolate and a selection of alcoholic beverages are offered on each flight. Spirit Airlines does not serve meals on any flight.

In-flight Magazine

Skylights Magazine is the official in-flight magazine, published bi-monthly and offered on all flights. The magazine covers celebrity news, entertainment, lifestyle and travel topics.
