Check in

Passengers may check in at the airport 3 hours prior to flight departure, or check in online using their E-ticket number or reservation code. Online check-in is not available for passengers who are traveling with infants under 12 months old, flying on a discounted or free ticket, or for passengers who require special services.

Economy class passengers may take 2 pieces, each weighing up to 50lbs/22kgs, and up to 62 linear in/157cm (length + height + width). Business class passengers may take 2 pieces, each weighing up to 70 lbs/32kgs, and up to 62 linear in/157cm (length + height + width).

Additional bags

Any of the two permitted baggage pieces that weighs between 51lbs/22Kg and 70lbs/31Kg, or measures up to 62 linear in/157cm (length + width + height), has an additional charge of US$50 per piece (applies for Economy Class)

Extra pieces (apart from your 2 permitted baggage pieces) weighing more than 70lbs/32kg, but less than 100lbs/45kg or measuring more than 62 linear in/157cm, but less than 85 linear in/215cm, are considered standby bags and have an additional charge of US$100 per piece.

Weighing less than or equal to 50lbs/22kg, have an additional charge of US$100 per piece.

Weighing more than 50lbs/22kg, but less than 70lbs/32kg, have an additional charge of US$150 per piece.

Weighing more than 70lbs/32kg, but less than 100lbs/45kg or measuring more than 62 linear in/157cm, but less than 85 linear in/215cm, have an additional charge of US$200 per piece.

Pieces weighing above 100lbs/45.4kg and/or measuring 85 linear in/216cm are not considered luggage

Passengers may make changes to their flight at least 24 hours prior to departure; a fee of $100 may be applied.

Child fares

Infants under 2 years of age, traveling on an adult's lap can travel at a rate of 10% of the adult fare, plus the total amount of the security, fuel fees and international taxes. This discount does not apply to Business Class or if the infant is already 2 years old. Children between the ages of 5 and 12 who are not traveling with an adult will be charged an unaccompanied minor fee of $75 each way for international flights and $30 each way for domestic flights.

Pets

Up to two pets per flight, including seeing-eye dogs are permitted to travel in the cabin. Trained assistance animals cannot weigh more than 90 lbs, and passengers traveling with pets for emotional support purposes must provide documentation from a mental health professional. A fee of $75 each way is imposed for the transportation of pets in the cabin.

Carrying Musical Instruments

Musical instruments may be transported as checked baggage, carry-on or occupy a seat. One musical instrument per passenger is permitted. If it is occupying a seat, it cannot weigh more than 75 kgs and may not be larger than 80 inches in linear dimensions. If it is carry-on, the instrument cannot weigh more than 22 lbs or be larger than 45 linear inches. A charge of $100 each way may be imposed for instruments that are transported as checked baggage.

TACA offers movies and television series programming depending on the duration of the flight, an in-flight magazine, and snack and meal service on both Economy Class and Business Class flights.

Airline food (menus)

Food selections vary by destination and length of flight. Snacks are served for flights between 0:56 - 1:30 hrs; meals are served on flights between 1:32 - 3:00 hrs; and hot meals are served on flights of 3 or more hours. Infants under 2 years of age, traveling on an adult's lap, are required to pay 10% of the adult fare, plus the total amount of the security, fuel fees and international taxes. This discount does not apply to Business Class or if the infant is already 2 years old.
