Overview

Wizz Air is based in Hungary and Poland, and offers flight service to a number of destinations in Central and Eastern Europe. The airline was launched in May 2004 as a value-oriented airline that promises a new travel experience for all travelers to the EU.

Wizz Air has 8 operating bases in the region: Katowice, Warsaw, Gdansk and Poznan in Poland, Budapest in Hungary, Sofia in Bulgaria and Bucharest and Cluj in Romania.  It offers flights to over 50 destinations across Central and Eastern Europe.

Check in

The check-in desk is open up to 40 minutes before departure, and passengers are encouraged to check in at least 1-2 hours prior to their flight.  Passengers who require special services or assistance are encouraged to check in 2 hours before departure.

Baggage

Carry on - Passengers are permitted to taken one piece of hand baggage per flight with a total dimension of 115 cm (55x40x20) and no heavier than 10 kg.  Any baggage in excess of these requirements will be considered to be checked baggage.  Passengers may also take one personal item such as a coat, small-sized handbag or cell phone on board.
   
Checked - Maximum dimensions for one piece of checked baggage is 59 x 47 x 67.5 inches.  Passengers are permitted to check-in a maximum of 20kg without incurring an excess baggage fee. Checked baggage fees are as follows:

• (at time of booking; per bag) per flight per passenger 10 EUR / 8 GBP baggage fee
• (after booking; per bag) per flight per passenger 20 EUR / 16 GBP special baggage fee
• (at time of booking) per flight per passenger 30 EUR / 23 GBP special baggage fee
• (after booking) per flight per passenger 40 EUR / 30 GBP   

Additional bags - Excess baggage weight fees at time of booking are as follows:

• 0 - 5 kgs / 25 EUR/20 GBP
• 6 - 10 kgs / 50 EUR/40 GBP
• 11 - 15 kgs / 75 EUR/60 GBP
• 16 - 30 kgs / 100 EUR/80 GBP
• 31 - 50 kgs / 150 EUR/120 GBP

Passenger change details

Passengers may make name and flight changes for a fee of 50EUR/40GBP for name changes per flight, per passenger; and 5 EUR/4GBP for invoice change fee requests.  A cancellation fee of 60EUR/46GBP is assessed per flight, per passenger on all flights.

Child fares

Children between the ages of 2 and 14 years of age are booked as children but must pay full adult fare and occupy their own seat. Infants up to 2 years of age can fly for a fixed fee of 25EUR/20 GBP per flight as long as they can sit comfortably on an accompanying adult's lap.

Pets

Pets are not permitted to fly on Wizz Air, with the exception of guide dogs.  Guide dogs must be registered through the reservations department to be allowed on board.

Carrying Musical Instruments

Musical instruments that meet carry-on and checked baggage size and weight requirements may be transported in the cabin, but passengers may also purchase an extra seat for oversized or fragile items.

Snacks and beverages are available for purchase on all flights.
