Honolulu International Airport is the main airport in the state of Hawaii. It is located on the island of Oahu. Visitors to Honolulu and Oahu use this airport, as do most travelers planning to visit the state's other islands. Cheap inter-island flights depart from HNL on a daily basis.

The Waikiki Express Bus service connects the airport with hotels along Waikiki Beach. Fares are $9 one-way or $15 round trip. Registration counters for rental car agencies are located in the baggage claim area. Shuttles run regularly between the rental companies' lots and the terminal. Taxis can be hailed from the central median of the road located outside of the baggage claim area. Fares from the airport to Waikiki or central Honolulu are between $35-$45. Buses #19 and #20 connect the airport with Honolulu's tourist areas. The fare is $2.25.
Terminal Information
Honolulu Airport has three terminal buildings. These three serve different purposes and are connected with each other by regular shuttle service. Most flights from the US mainland and from international destinations arrive at the gates of the main terminal. The Inter-island Terminal is used almost exclusively by Hawaiian Airlines for flights from the mainland and inter-island service. Other inter-island airlines operate from the Commuter Terminal at the far end of the airport.
Places to Eat
Most of the airport's eating options are found in the main terminal building. There are multiple food courts with fast-food brands like Burger King, Pizza Hut, and Chow Mien Express. In addition, sit-down restaurants like Island Brews and Gordon Biersch Restaurant offer standard airport eats with a bit of island flare. The Inter-island Terminal features fast-food staples like Burger King as well as locally-themed options like Lahaina Chicken.

Information desks are located throughout the airport. These are staffed from 4 a.m. in the morning until 1 a.m.
There are numerous shopping options at HLN, including several duty-free shops.
