5 Best Cities to Ring in 2010

Submitted by LowFares on December 12, 2009 No Comment

Happy-New-Year-2010Where will you be this New Year’s Eve? Every city and mid-sized town has some sort of event with the inevitable champagne toast and dancing. For many people, the final moments of the year are spent with family. For others, it is time to get one last party out of the old year before the seriousness of the next year – with its resolutions and goals – begins. Some travelers want to spend the new year with revelers in another place away from the mundane celebrations at home. These 5 cities are where to find the most fun on December 31st and ring in 2010.

New York
You might not want to see the ball drop (although there is something appealing about half-a-million people ringing in 2010 together). But New York is still one of the best places to enjoy yourself as 2009 slides away. There are thousands of options from parties to nightclubs to events at restaurants and hotels.

Singapore
This little economic tiger (pop. 4 million) has it all, and then some. New casinos and resorts will surely bring more visitors over the New Year’s celebrations. Shopping, lighting displays and beach parties, overseen by world famous DJs and party promoters, add to the celebratory mix. What’s more, Singapore is an insanely clean and safe city. There will be no New Years Eve mishaps here.

Toronto
Canada’s cultural capitol is often overlooked by tourists visiting North America. However, Toronto’s melting-pot vibe and sheer amount of options means that it deserves mention alongside New York.

Las Vegas
Vegas still offers a good time. The days of Sinatra are gone, as is the bawdy Sin City era. Casino/resorts are more like theme parks than gambling dens these days. That’s good news for revelers who want to spend the whole day on New Year’s Eve wandering from event to event and attraction to attraction.

Dubai
Despite its recent financial woes, the economic capitol of the Middle East is filled with glitz and glamour. Over-the-top parties, complete with larger-than-life décor, plenty of world famous names and insanely large (and expensive) fireworks displays will make for a gaudy, but memorable December 31st celebration in Dubai.
