Guide to Planning A Singles Vacation

Submitted by Jason R. Rich on July 5, 2010 No Comment

Many singles don’t realize that meeting new friends and potential romantic interests when traveling is far easier than achieving the same results on their home turf. If you’re single and planning a weekend getaway or week long vacation, for example, and your goal is to meet new people, you’ll definitely want to plan your destination and itinerary accordingly.

Some vacation destinations, like Las Vegas, are a Mecca for single travelers throughout the year. Along the Strip, you’ll find countless nightclubs, for example, where single travelers congregate nightly. The pool areas and gyms at some Las Vegas resorts, such as the Palms and Hard Rock Hotel, are also great places for singles to meet and interact.

You can find low airfares and travel packages to Las Vegas almost anytime of the year. Be sure to check into the “Camp Vegas For Grownups” promotion, which includes special rates and invitations to adults-only activities.

Another great vacation destination for younger and hipper singles is Cancun, Mexico, where the nightlife is one non-stop party, and accommodations are available to fit any budget. Cancun also has a few adults-only resorts worth looking into.

Oh, and speaking of adults-only resorts, if you’re interested in more than just meeting fellow singles, and you have an open mind and few inhibitions, the two Hedonism all-inclusive resorts in Jamaica may be just what you’re craving.

For singles who don’t want to spend too much time planning a trip, but want to experience a vacation that caters to singles, one option is to participate in a singles-only tour or cruise through a reputable third-party tour operator. This guarantees you’ll be surrounded by other single people, plus ensures you’ll have a variety of mixers and singles-oriented events available to you throughout the trip.

When choosing a specialized singles tour, cruise or vacation, first determine what you want out of the experience. Some trips, cruises and tours are geared toward specific age groups, singles with particular interests (such as cooking, sailing, scuba diving, or yoga), or solo travelers with a particular religious background. Some are large in scope and attract dozens or hundreds of singles, but some cater to very small groups.

Make sure the trip you select caters to the age group and type of people you’re looking to meet, whether it’s career-oriented professionals, Jewish singles, or singles looking for long-term relationships as opposed to one-night stands.

You should also determine if you’re interested in staying at an all-inclusive resort, taking a singles cruise with a major cruise line, or if you’re more interested in adventure travel, such as a small vessel sailing adventure or safari. Next, seek out a tour operator that specializes in singles travel and gears their trips to what you’re interested in.

For example, a tour operator that offers a singles cruise will team up with a major cruise line, reserve a large group of cabins for their single travelers, and then offer a variety of special on-board and land excursion activities that are only available to tour participants. Cruising with the singles group will typically entail a separate activities director and tour guide who caters just to the group, which may include several hundred singles.

Yes, you will pay a premium to work with a tour operator that coordinates singles travel, such as SinglesCruise.com, but the benefit is that you’re guaranteed to experience a travel itinerary that’s geared toward socializing and meeting fellow singles without having to do all of the planning yourself. This is also a great opportunity for singles who aren’t comfortable with the bar scene or walking up to strangers to introduce themselves.
