Last Minute Airfares

Submitted by LowFares on December 22, 2010 No Comment

If you have traveled on a commercial airplane lately, you were probably in good company. Airlines are once again seeing their planes jet off at full capacity, and with the holiday season fast approaching, the situation is only likely to get better for them, but worse for their passengers.

If you are considering jetting off during the holiday season, there are some outstanding last minute fares to be found. In order to acquire the best last minute fares available, flexibility with regards to the times and dates on which you travel is essential. However, if you are unable to be flexible, it is advisable not to opt for last minute fares since you may find that you are unable to find the flight times you require.

Do not assume that the best last minute fares can be found through the cheap airline carriers. Use price comparison websites and do your own research to ensure that you exhaust all possible options when it comes to finding the cheapest flight fares. The low priced carriers are often confident that they will fill their airplanes, so they usually set their air fares at medium starting prices.

If a non-stop flight does not rank high up in your list of priorities, you are more likely to be able to find great deals on last minute fares. If you are considering going on vacation during the holiday season, don’t rule out the more unconventional airport options. Flights into some of the smaller airports are often cheaper than those to the more popular, well known airports. While you may have to drive further from the airport to your chosen destination, you may still save considerable money. Relax and make the drive part of your vacation plan.

Last minute fares can often be found at low prices by visiting your local travel agent. These airfare specials that they can offer often do not make it onto the Internet. Even more important; they can put together a low cost package including hotel stay and airline flights.
