From hipster hangouts to plush coffee shops with free wi-fi to rocking live music venues, Albuquerque is as alive at nighttime as it is during the day. After an afternoon of outdoor activities or gallery-going, night is the perfect time to relax and enjoy this city’s diverse offerings. There are stereotypical pubs and dance clubs, but also some places that cannot be compared to anything else.

Here is the best of those Albuquerque nightlife venues that deliver on expectations and those that defy definition.

Budget

Burt's Tiki Lounge (313 Gold Ave SW) is one of the quirkiest bars in town. It is part tiki bar, part college pub, part happy hour hotspot, part…indefinable. If you are looking for some place unique, this is it.

Two Fools Tavern (3211 Central Ave NE) has Irish beers on tap and good Irish music nightly. The friendly, casual atmosphere is a major selling point, as is the Guinness.

Value

Anodyne (409 Central Ave NW) is a downtown bar popular with Albuquerque’s cool kids. They boast an extensive selection of beers and enough pool tables that you will always find one open.

Launchpad (618 Central Ave SW) is one of the best places in town to see live music from local and regional rock acts. This is the most well known concert venue in Albuquerque.

Outdoor seating is an important part of many nightspots’ offerings. One of the best places to lounge on the patio is Gecko's Bar & Tapas (3500 Central Ave SE). The drinks and atmosphere are great, but the tapas are among the best in the Southwest.

Lotus (211 Gold Ave SW) is a dance club that features different musical genres on different nights. However, you are most likely to hear urban contemporary or hip-hop coming from the sound system. Lotus usually draws a younger crowd.

Splurge

Though there are no major pro teams in town, Albuquerque is a prime city for spectator sports. The University of New Mexico plays their basketball games in an arena called The Pit, on the UNM campus. The Albuquerque Isotopes play minor league baseball at a beautiful throwback stadium downtown. The New Mexico Scorpions play hockey at the Santa Ana Star Center.

Whisque Mesquite Bar & Grill, (4201 Montaño Blvd NW) is on the city’s West side. The food and drink list are top notch, but the real star is the panoramic view of the city.

Imbibe (3103 Central Ave NE) has cigars and a rooftop patio. It is one of the most upscale lounges in Albuquerque.
