Atlanta Nightlife
Atlanta’s nightlife is as diverse as the city’s population. Country music is a mainstay in certain areas of the city, while clubs serving up live hip hop shows or energetic dance tunes are also plentiful. There are high-end cocktail lounges and dive bars add to the mix. And of course, Atlanta is one of the great cities for professional sports. Every major professional sports league has a franchise in ATL.
Here are the best nighttime entertainment options in Atlanta.
Budget
Sidebar is a downtown bar catering to everyone who just wants a quiet drink in a friendly atmosphere. College students, tourists and white collar workers from the nearby office buildings all feel welcome in this oasis in the middle of one of America’s great business districts.
For a casual-but-spicy night out, head to Midtown’s Latin-themed clubs. The Twisted Taco is lively bar with margaritas by the pitcher, while the Loca Luna is a club with Brazilian food and hot house music. Both are for great options for partiers who don’t mind a little rhythm in their after-dark activities.
Value
Downtown is home to some of the more interesting bars in Atlanta. Alley Cat and Irish Bread Pub are two mainstays. Alley Cat features rock music and waitresses in sexy outfits. Irish Bread Pub is more low-key with a traditional Irish pub atmosphere and occasional live music.
Midtown’s Shout is popular with the professional crowd. The laid-back, social atmosphere is one reason to visit, but the view of the city from the rooftop location is perhaps the most attractive element of this nightspot. You pay as much for the view as for your cocktail, but it is, in the eyes of many patrons, worth the price of admission.
Compound (Midtown) is one of the most popular dance clubs in Atlanta. It is a large venue, so finding your comfort zone amidst the festivities isn’t too hard. Compound is often rated as Atlanta’s number one dance club by local and regional publications.
Splurge
The Grape (Atlantic Station) is a wine bar that offers frequent tastings and has a good selection of unique wines.
Buckhead’s Aiko is a sleek nightspot in every sense. Atlanta’s international elite descend upon this hotspot to kick back and enjoy a few pricy cocktails. Some people come here to see and be seen, but it is more classy that your average “scene” nightclub. That classiness is reflected in the pricy drink list.
