The comfortable tropical climate year round and wealth of activities on the waterfront make the Bahamas an idyllic destination for your exotic escape.  The islands offer something for all types of travelers; whether you enjoy exploring cultural sites or want to hit the waters on a powerboat adventure, you can fill up your itinerary with lots of fun things to do any time of year.  Here are some travel tips to ensure that your trip to the Bahamas will be fun, safe and enjoyable:

1. Banks are only open until 3 p.m. on most days of the week.  If you need to withdraw some extra money from your accounts during your trip, be aware that banks close relatively early in the day.  Most of them don't even open until 9:30 a.m., and the hours vary throughout the islands.

2. Pack a jacket or sweater.  Even though temperatures average between 70 and 75 degrees for most days of the year, the weather can become slightly cool or chilly after the sun goes down.  Pack a light sweater or jacket to make sure you're comfortable in the evening hours.

3. Wear resort or beach clothing.  There aren't many formal places on the islands, so you won't have to comply with a strict dress code.  Plan to dress down in resort wear when you're out sightseeing or heading off on a guided tour. 

4. Drive on the left hand side of the road.  If you plan to drive a rental car, make sure you understand all of the British rules of driving and drive on the left side of the road. 

5. Shop 'til you drop.  Most fine goods such as jewelry, leather goods, perfumes, and photographic equipment are all duty free, which means you can save up to 50% on standard U.S. prices.  Take the time to shop for some luxury items on your trip, along with local arts, crafts, shells and souvenirs from local gift shops.
