It's one of the most beautiful cities in Europe and continues to attract thousands of tourists year after year.  Bern, Switzerland is the epitome of Old Europe with its cobblestone streets, traditional food markets and miles of winding rivers criss-crossing the city center.  You'll find a wealth of historic attractions and sites throughout this populous city, and can spend a few days taking guided tours of the city's most popular attractions.   Here's where you'll find some of the best attractions in Bern:

Albert Einstein's house
Make your way to Kramgrasse 49 to see where Albert Einstein did his work.  His apartment served as his home and workplace in the early 20th century, and it was here that he published his "Special Theory of Relativity." You can take a tour of the apartment to learn about the famous physicist's background and history.

Nydeggbrucke
This expansive bridge is one of the most recognized attractions in the city and hovers over the famous Aare River.  Walk across the bridge to see beautiful views of the city, catch a glimpse of the lush forests and take pictures of the central stone arch. 

Zytgloggeturn
It's the city's oldest building and is now the focal point of the city with its attractive spire and oversized clock.  The tower still plays a puppet show precisely four minutes before the hour, so be sure to time your visit accordingly.  It was built in the 12th century, and still stands strong today.

Rathaus
This old city structure is now a government office that serves as the meeting place of the Bern Municipal Council.  It was built during the beginning of the 15th century and has been renovated over the years so it could be used as an office and meeting place.  You can take a walking tour of this grand building to see medieval artifacts and antiques scattered throughout the building.

Kornhaus
This 18th century granary is now a beer hall, but you can take a walking tour of the grounds to learn about its rich history.  It's one of the few unrestored buildings in the city, so you can see many of the old architectural styles firsthand.
