Things to Do in Bogota

Bogota is a cultural epicenter of South America, one of the few cities that is home to a mix of ancient architectural sites and modern galleries, shopping centers and museums.  The city uses a cable car system for easy travel across the bustling city streets, and you'll find a wealth of activities in the downtown city center.  Whether you're a first time or returning visitor to Bogota, Colombia, here are some fun things to do and see on your trip:

Watch a Futbol Game in the Park
Futbol (soccer) is one of the most popular sports in South America and is part of the culture of the city. Bogota's best known soccer club is the Millonarios and Independiente Santa Fe, and you can catch a game at a number of public parks throughout the city.  Just pack a picnic blanket and head out for the day to join the fun!

Spend the Day at Mundo Aventura Park
It's one of the most-visited amusement parks in Colombia, and features roller coasters, mechanical games and the infamous sky coaster.  Head here for an adrenaline rush and whimsical, carnival-style atmosphere.

Watch a Bullfight
No trip to Bogota is complete without watching a live bullfight!  Bullfighting season in Bogota, Colombia occurs in January and February, and you'll find a number of amazing events at the bullfighting stadiums in the center of the city.  Just make sure you arrive early because the crowds can be overwhelming.

Visit the Gold Museum
The Museo de Oro (gold museum) contains a fabled collection of gold artifacts that have been amassed by local leaders for hundreds of years.  The museum houses a diverse collection of artifacts, photographs, memorabilia and more.

Go Shopping for Jewels
Bogota is home to several fine jewelry shops and gem vendors, and you'll find them scattered throughout the city.  Take your time to explore these locally owned boutiques to round up your fair share of treasures including emeralds, gold, silver and other gemstones.
