Brisbane is an urban metropolis, but it doesn't take long to realize the city is also steeped in history and has maintained much of its cultural traditions over the past few centuries.  Many attractions in Brisbane can be found in Fortitude Valley and Spring Hill; you can look forward to a wealth of activities and sights to experience and explore. Whether you want to see old theatre buildings or ride the Ferris Wheel, here's where you'll find some of the most popular attractions in Brisbane, Australia:

Brisbane Arts Theatre: This theatre is located in the center of the city and has been performing plays for over 70 years. You can watch a classical theatre production, children's play and musicals in this beautifully restored and well-maintained complex. It's located at 210 Petrie Terrace.

Wheel of Brisbane: This giant Ferris Wheel is located on the South Bank of Brisbane, and has been named a World Tourist Attraction of Australia. You can take a ride on the wheel to see the city from a fresh perspective.

Victoria Barracks Museum: This museum features a collection of weapons, photographs and other artifacts collected from the Boer War, and two World Wars. You can see the giant displays of replica medals, and learn about Australia's role in the war with a guided tour of the grounds. The museum is located on Petrie Terrace in Brisbane City.

Miegunyah Folk Museum:  Learn what life was like in the Victorian ages by taking a guided tour through this elegant mansion that is furnished with antiques and opulent decorations from the late 19th century. The museum houses dozens of pictures, photographs and antiques from an era gone by. It's located at 35 Jordan Terrace in Bowen Hill, slightly north of downtown Brisbane.

St. John's Cathedral: Visit this Anglican cathedral to see the beautiful gothic-revival architecture, and learn about its rich history in Australia.  The breathtaking cathedral is decorated with carved columns, old friezes and artifacts. It's located on 373 Ann Street in Brisbane
