>> Colorado springs nightlife
Colorado Springs has a respectable nightlife scene for a city of its size. Certain nightspots are frequented by outdoor enthusiasts need a place to knock back a few after a day on the river or rocks. Colorado Springs is also a university town, so much of the nightlife is geared towards students. Still other areas turn into more cosmopolitan - though hardly upscale - nightspots after the sun goes down. All these scenes add up to form a respectable and reasonably diverse nightlife menu of nightlife offerings.
Here are the best after-dark spots in Colorado Springs:
Budget
Porky's Bar (5910 Omaha) is a newly renovated nightspot with an extensive menu of both food and alcoholic beverages. The ribs, burgers and appetizers are tasty, but the atmosphere is the true star at Porky's, which has beach volleyball courts and coverage of major sporting events on TV.
Phantom Canyon Brewing Co. (2 E. Pikes Peak Ave) is a major microbrewer in Colorado Springs. It is one of the better breweries in the micro-brew-happy Denver, Boulder, Colorado Springs triangle. In addition to the expansive beer offerings, there is a quality menu of edibles available for lunch and dinner seven days per week.
Value
Bristol Brewing Company (1647 S Tejon St.) is a bar that serves beer from one of Colorado Springs' best microbreweries. This place does not let minor details, like food and music get in the way of the beer tasting. Beer aficionados will not be disappointed with the quality of the beer, though casual drinkers might be put off by the lack of food and atmosphere.
Underground (110 N Nevada St) is an expansive hangout spot with not one or two, but three different bars, each with a distinct personality. The size of this place makes it a good venue for spending an entire evening. The prices are quite reasonable and the dance floor and pool hall are two of the most popular pieces of nightlife real estate in Colorado Springs.
Splurge
Ritz Grill (15 S Tejon St) is a hangout spot for Colorado Springs' beautiful people. As far as a scene, it pales in comparison to larger cities' "be seen" clubs and lounges. Most tourists actually find it rather mellow (more of a hang-out spot than a glitzy club) and reasonably priced.
MacKenzie Chophouse (128 S Tejon St) is known for its martinis and quality cuts of beef. The liberal use of wood and stone in the interior design gives Mackenzie's the feel of a regular steakhouse, but the warm, soft lighting gives it a romantic edge as well.
