Visit the United States Mint: Take a tour of the Mint to learn about how gold, silver bullion and coins are produced and stored. The highly-informative walking tours will give you a chance to learn about the United States minting history and learn about unique coin collections and antique coins from an era gone by. Tours are completely free of charge, and offered from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Explore the Denver Zoo: This popular venue is home to over 4,000 animals, and hosts a number of special events, feedings and shows for animal enthusiast of all ages. Tickets cost between $5 - $12 depending on the age of the visitor and season, but ‘Free Days’ are also on the Zoo calendar. Take a guided tour of the grounds to learn all about the zoo’s conservation efforts and extensive animal and plant collections.
Have Fun at Lakeside Amusement Park: It’s the largest amusement park in the Rocky Mountain area, and features the classic Cyclone Roller Coaster, nearly 40 unique rides and 15 kiddie rides. Head here for an adrenaline rush and plenty of family-friendly fun and entertainment. The park is open every day in the summer and on weekends the rest of the year. Tickets are $13.75 on weekdays and $19.75 on holidays.
Go Shopping on 16th Street Mall: This tree-lined pedestrian mall is located in downtown Denver and features several historic buildings, boutique shops, outdoor cafes and locally-owned restaurants. It’s the perfect place to take in some local culture and watch the live entertainers around the plaza. Head here for a fun day fo shopping and relaxation.
