There are dozens of unique places to explore and no shortage of things to do in this sunny desert city; here are a few attractions to explore on your visit to El Paso:
Chamizal National Memorial – this memorial was built in 1963 as a milestone for relations between the United States and Mexico, and the venue gives visitors a chance to learn more about U.S. history and El Paso’s role in the political sphere. Head here for a tour of the memorial and grounds, then explore the theater presentations and art gallery exhibitions in the Visitors Center. The Visitor’s Center is open from Tuesday through Saturday each week, and admission is free.
El Paso Holocaust Museum - learn more about the Nazi Holocaust and pay respects to those who survived the war era with this memorial and museum filled with artifacts, photographs and exhibits. Take a guided tour of the facility for an in-depth review of the history of the Holocaust, and learn about local El Paso residents who lived through the historic events.
Southwestern International Livestock Show & Rodeo – grab that cowboy hat and take part in a classic Texas activity at the International PRCA Rodeo. It’s a volunteer organization that hosts steer wrestling, bareback horseback and steer riding, bull riding and barrel racing events throughout the year. Rodeo enthusiasts won’t want to miss the annual Rodeo parade; reserved seating is available, and ticket prices vary depending on event and seating location.
Magoffin Home State Historic Site – head to the heart of downtown El Paso for this beautiful mansion designed in the classic Territorial-style of the late 19th century. The Southwest home is surrounded by Victorian gardens and is furnished with antiques, paintings and décor from an era gone by. Tickets are just $3 for adults and children under 12 can get in for free.
Western Playland – if you’re looking for thrills and adventures, head to this classic amusement park full of roller coasters, trains, yo-yo rides and the famous Drop Zone. The venue is a great place to soak up the sun and experience an adrenaline rush any time of year! Tickets are $15.95 per adult or child for unlimited rides, and $7 for non-riders.
