Learn about the Stockyards and livestock collections at Fort Worth with a visit to the Stockyards Collection Museum inside the Livestock Exchange Building. Make your way to the Fort Worth Water Gardens to see beautiful cascades, fountains, gardens and foliage of the area.  It’s located minutes from the Fort Worth Convention Center, and is the perfect spot to enjoy a picnic after a busy day of exploring.

Experience 19th century Texas at the Log Cabin Village, a restored site with authentic log homes, a smokehouse, working grist mill and old schoolhouse.  You can take a guided tour of the site to see historical interpreters in action; watch them make candles, weave baskets and make handmade cloths and crafts as you walk through each area of this historic park!  Admission is just $3.50 for adults and $3.00 for children and teens between the ages of 4-17.

Set your sights on the Fort Worth Botanic Garden, a beautiful 114-acre complex built in 1933 that houses an authentic Japanese meditation garden, an exotic conservatory, and gardens with over 2,500 native and exotic plants.  Tours are available throughout the day, and visitors can enjoy a light luncheon at the Gardens Restaurant.

Take a ride on the Tarantula Train, a restored steam engine that once served passengers traveling between Fort Worth and Grapevine.  You can purchase one-way and round-trip tickets to enjoy a scenic ride from Stockyards Station all the way to the Cotton Belt depot.   It’s a fun way to explore several unique destinations around Fort Worth in one of the country’s working historic trains.
