Las Vegas Nightlife
Las Vegas is, in many ways, the nightlife capitol of the country. There are limitless possibilities for after-sun fun. Seeing Vegas lit up as you approach it on Route 95 offers some insight into just how much of the city is dedicated to nightlife.
With shows, clubs, casinos and a host of lesser-known activities, the only problem is choosing what you are going to do and what you are going to have to put off until next time.
Here are some after-dark venues in Las Vegas that you just shouldn’t miss.
Budget
Most shows are expensive, but not all of them will break the bank. Masquerade (at the Rio) and the Sirens of T.I. (Treasure Island) are both free. Check for deals on other shows through your hotel or take chances in a rush line.
There are many plush nightclubs and “be-seen” scenes in Vegas. However, even some of these are not as expensive as you might think. Seeking out a good watering hole is easier than you think. Though much hype is given to the casinos’ showcase clubs, most casinos also have perfectly respectable venues where a $5 beer or $10 cocktail is within reach. Some of these drinking spots include the Pink Taco at the Hard Rock and the Bunkhouse in Downtown Las Vegas.
Rock Cafe (Imperial Palace) is a good place to find a party on weekdays. There is no cover charge as long as you don’t go on the weekends. They play rock hits and 80s pop. It is a fun, hang-loose time.
Value
There are a few clubs in Vegas where you can find pleasant surprises. One is 3121, in the Rio Hotel. Pop Hall of Famer Prince gives regular shows there on the weekends. Entry might not be cheap, but getting in on an intimate performance by The Purple One means it is definitely a good value.
Splurge
There are plenty of bars that look flashy on the surface, but lack class underneath. However, there is no shortage of thoroughly classy joints in Vegas if you know where to look. Places like Tabu (MGM Grand) and Blush (Wynn’s) are top shelf in terms of both cocktails and service. OPM (Caesar’s Palace) is a place where it is not uncommon to see celebrities kicking back to the cool music.
Most casino hotels also have upscale lounges on or near their rooftops. The Ghost Bar at the Palms is one of the best of these high altitude nightspots. There is a transparent floor where you can actually see the street far below.
