Nashville has a diverse and exciting restaurant scene. There are restaurants offering the classic Southern fine dining experience, as well as local family-run favorites and a growing collection of ethnic eateries and new fusion restaurants.
Here are the best eating venues in the Nashville area.
Budget
There are two Indian eateries on Church Street in Nashville’s Midtown. Both Sitar and Taste of India offer lunchtime buffets and a menu where most items are cheaper than $10. These are both fine examples of the new international flavors that are becoming more evident in Nashville.
On the other end of the flavor spectrum is Rotier's (2413 Elliston Place). It is a neighborhood burger joint from another era. If you want a burger and milkshake and perhaps a dose of nostalgia, this is the place to go. If you have come to Nashville to experience the city’s quirky and unique culture, Rotier’s is at least worth a look.
Value
Sole Mio (311 3rd Avenue South) is one of Nashville’s finest Italian eateries. It offers classic home-cooking from the old country; although the chef has been known to put in a few locally-inspired twists. The seafood dishes earn especially rave reviews from guests and food critics alike. The prices are not as high as you might think, especially considering the quality of the food and variety of the menu.
The flying pigs on the sign are all you need to know about Jack's Barbeque (416 Broadway). It is a Nashville institution. Located in the heart of the city, it features authentic Tennessee style BBQ in a low-key setting.
If you want pizza, the locally-owned Pizza Perfect chain does good pies and they have several locations so there is usually one within striking distance of wherever you are. This is a good late night spot.
Splurge
Margot (5 Points neighborhood) is one of the finest chef-owned restaurants in the city. Definitely a geared towards gourmets and foodies, this place is also known for its unique touches, such as hot chocolate made with homemade marshmallows. That is one of the “only-in-Nashville” quirks that can be found even at upscale restaurants like Margot.
F. Scott's is the kind of place where dinner is accompanied by a jazz band. This is fine dining to the max, at least as far as Nashville is concerned. F. Scott’s is a popular eatery amongst Nashville’s elite, so dress your best. Though there is an element of elitism, there is also a feeling of hospitality.
