Oklahoma City Restaurants
When one thinks of the cuisine of plains states like Oklahoma, home cooking and barbecue immediately come to mind. Yes, these types of cooking are a mainstay of Oklahoma City’s eating scene, but there is a diverse choice of flavors that one would expect from any mid-sized metropolis. It is not hard to find authentic Ethiopian, Greek or Vietnamese food in the city and the number of fine dining restaurants is on the rise.
Here are the places in Oklahoma City that offer the best food, hospitality, and atmosphere.
Budget
If you are looking for good value, head to the Asian District. There are numerous Vietnamese restaurants there. Almost all are family-run affairs with authentic food, as well as some Americanized favorites. Menus feature plenty of dishes under $10. Pho restaurants specialize in Vietnamese noodle soup while banh mi shops mainly serve Vietnamese-style sub sandwiches.
Coney Island (428 W Main St) serves hot dogs and junk food. The Oklahoma Sooners décor and fun-loving vibe of this place make it a great lunchtime stop if you are in Downtown Oklahoma City.
Value
Sauced (2912 Paseo) is in a hip art gallery area. It features some of the best pizza in town. If you are looking for something a little more low-key and authentic, try Sophabella's (7628 N. May Ave), one of the city’s best Italian eateries. A couple of blocks away is Vito's Ristorante (7521 N. May Ave), a similarly-styled place.
Bricktown Brewery Restaurant (1 N. Oklahoma) is a local favorite. They brew their own beer (and serve it for dirt cheap during happy hour) and also dish out some great barbecue specialties.
If you happen to be spending a day or two in Oklahoma City’s Adventure District, County Line Bar BQ (1226 NE 63rd St) is a great venue for families or anyone else who wants a laid back venue to enjoy some quality barbecued meat that has been slathered in special sauce.
Splurge
Bricktown has more than a few choices when it comes to eating out. Some of the standouts of this part of the city include Daddy Hinkle's O'riginal Steakhouse (100 E. California Avenue) and Pearl's Crabtown (303 E. Sheridan).
Park Avenue Grill (One Park Avenue) features contemporary American dishes in an upscale environment. This is one of the favorites of local fine diners. Nearby is another popular fancy restaurant, Aria Grill (One N. Broadway).
If you have a craving for some Japanese cuisine, try the Okura Sushi and Grill (7502 N. May Ave).
