Things to Do in Oklahoma City
There are plenty of things to do in Oklahoma City. Most visitors find it best to blend the exciting newer attractions of this growing urban area with some of the many historic sites. This city is not often put in the same category as popular urban destinations in the region, such as Denver and Austin. But there is, nonetheless, a bit of tourist buzz about Oklahoma City. Here are the attractions that are creating that buzz.

Oklahoma City National Memorial and Museum is the most prominent building in the city. It is free to visit the outside of the memorial, which remembers the victims of the 1995 Oklahoma City Federal Building bombing. The museum is open daily, as is a nearby reflecting pool.
There are several interesting neighborhoods in the city. One of the more atmospheric is the former art hot spot of Paseo. Most of the buildings were built during the Roaring 20s. They give the artsy area a bohemian vibe. There are shops and galleries throughout the neighborhood.
For more value, head to Little Saigon, officially referred to as The Asian District. It is a collection of mostly Southeast Asian eateries and shops. This is the best place in the city to find bargains.

Oklahoma City has a long history. For those interested in its past, the Oklahoma History Center (2401 N. Laird Ave) is a must-see. It is less focused on interactivity than on information, but is a fun stopping point nonetheless. Another similar site is Oklahoma Railway Museum (3400 NE Grand Blvd). Children might enjoy this one a bit more than the History Center.
Splurge
If you want to hit multiple attractions in a single day, The Adventure District, a 2-square-mile stretch of land in Northeastern Oklahoma City, is the best place to go. The Oklahoma City Zoo and Botanical Gardens are there, as it a racing casino and a science museum. If you just want to a see one exhibit hall in Oklahoma City, make it the National Cowboy & Western History Museum (1700 Northeast 63rd St). It is a fun venue that features information and interactive activities concerning the cowboy history and lore of the plains.
Want to collect some records while you are in town? Oklahoma City has several independent record stores (a rarity anywhere these days). Size Records (8915 N.
