Sacramento Attractions - Search for Cheap Airline Tickets to Sacramento

Sacramento offers visitors a mix of attractions and activities.  Elements of history are well represented because the city is not only the capitol of the most populous state in the US, but also the oldest incorporated city on the West Coast.  However, Sacramento is about more than its past.  It is a rapidly growing metropolis that is emerging from the shadow of neighboring San Francisco.  As one of the most diverse and friendly cities in the Golden State, Sacramento is finding its way onto more and more itineraries, and these attractions are part of the reason why:

Budget

Crocker Art Museum (216 O St.) is the oldest continuously running art museum outside of the East Coast.  It features one of the finest collections of California-made art in the state.  At only $6, it is well worth the price of admission for anyone who enjoys art or is curious about the unique culture of California.

Folsom Lake is one of California’s largest bodies of fresh water.  It is about 20 minutes outside of town and is popular with weekenders and outdoor enthusiasts.  You’ll see plenty of motorized and people-powered boats on the water.  There are also opportunities for fishing, jogging and plenty of picnic spots and places to set up a grill.

Value

The California Railroad Museum is aimed at younger visitors, but adult train lovers will also be interested. The museum runs steam train rides from the Central Pacific Railroad Freight Depot.  The rides are more than 30 minutes long and well worth the $8 ticket (kids’ tickets are only $3).

Sutter's Fort and the State Indian Museum (2701 L Street) are two more worthwhile historic sites in Sacramento.  At Sutter’s Fort, interactive activities and living history performers show what life was like in 1800s California.  The nearby State Indian Museum showcases Native Californian culture and artifacts dating back hundreds of years.

Splurge

The Sacramento Kings are the only major pro sports team in the city.  Sacramento’s fans are among the loudest in the country and tickets for the home games at Arco Arena are hard to come by.  If you manage it though, it is worth the price of admission because an experience at Arco is not like your typically sterile trip to a regular season NBA game.

Upscale shoppers take their fat wallets to the Galleria at Roseville.  This is the largest mall in the area and is worth a trip if you are a non-bargain-hunter in search of brand name wares.
