Tucson Nightlife - Search for Cheap Airline Tickets to Tucson
Tucson is a haven for nightlife aficionados in the Southwest. It has a vibrant arts scene, an energetic live music scene, cool clubs, laid back pubs and some of the best restaurants east of California. When the sun sets and the temperatures cool off, there are plenty of venues that heat up the night.
Here are the best clubs, pubs, and nighttime happenings in the Tucson area.
Budget
Kon Tiki (4625 E Broadway Blvd) is a Polynesian-themed bar that has become quite famous in Tucson. Don’t be turned off by the idea of a tropically decorated bar in the middle of the desert. This place is not a tourist trap. Drinks are cheap, there is never a cover charge, and both staff and patrons are quite friendly.
If you have a nighttime burrito craving, head to Viva Burrito Co. This local chain is no mere Taco Bell; though it does serve fast food, Mexican-style. It is far ahead of other similarly-themed chains in terms of quality.
If you are looking to do a bar crawl, 4th Avenue is the place to go. In addition to offbeat venues like the punk-themed Surly Wench (see below), there are pubs like O’Malley’s and Bison Witches.
Value
The Surly Wench (424 N 4th Ave) is a punk bar that is also popular with the local gay and lesbian community. They host good local rock acts and play movies nightly. This is a quirky, but laid back nightspot with a unique vibe.
Nimbus (3850 E. 44th Street) is a microbrewery that serves its products alongside a wide selection of food. Both the beverages and dishes are superior to your average bar-and-grill fare.
Barrio Food & Drink (135 S. 6th Ave) is another restaurant that brews its own beers. If you are a beer nerd, this is your place. The staff is happy to chat about the brewery and the beverages it produces. Barrio has found the perfect balance between classiness and casual atmosphere.
Splurge
Plush and Congress Club both feature some of the best live local, regional and national acts. The Congress Club also features dance music on many nights.
Tucson is the center of the wine industry in the Southwest. There are some wineries in the area and plenty of popular wine bars and wine retailers. Though not on par with California’s wine country in terms of scale, the Tucson area is definitely a hotspot for wine-lovers.
