Tucson Restaurants - Search for Cheap Airline Tickets to Tucson
The cuisine of Tucson is influenced by several major styles of cooking. Mexican and fiery Southwestern dishes are the most prevalent, but, because it is a major city, Tucson has also attracted a host of restaurateurs looking to inject some fresh into the local eating scene. Specialty cuisines from Asia and Europe are easy to come by, as are unique fusion restaurants and warm, welcoming cafés.
Here are the best places to eat in Tucson.
Budget
Pat's Chili Dogs (Mission Road) is an old time drive-in restaurant (minus the waitresses in roller skates). But that is not the reason it is so popular with locals and visitors alike. The chili dogs are arguably some of the best in the state. This Southwestern staple is so popular at Pat’s that it is hard to find a spot to park during lunchtime.
Cup Café (311 E. Congress St.) is an eclectic eatery that is focused on healthy dishes, no matter what their country of origin. Japanese noodle dishes sit on the menu next to Indian curries and classic American vegetarian plates. .
Value
Yoshimatsu Healthy Japanese Food (2745 N Campbell Ave) is a recent, but welcome addition to Tucson’s food scene. It has a quality sushi bar and an extensive vegetarian menu. Don’t let the “healthy” part of the name fool you, this is good food from the top of the menu to the bottom.
Char Thai (5039 E 5th St) is one of the best of the many Southeast Asian restaurants in town. This place is one of those small but charming family-run eateries. The classic Thai dishes are more than authentic and the variety of offerings means that you will be tempted to make multiple visits.
El Charro Café (311 N. Court Ave) is a family-owned restaurant that features Southwestern food with a heavy Mexican influence. According to residents, it is the finest example of authentic Southwestern cuisine in town.
Splurge
Hacienda del Sol (5601 N. Hacienda del Sol Rd) is an upscale Southwestern grill. You won’t find burgers here. The menu features awesome specialties like grilled swordfish, high-end cuts of steak, bison tenderloin, and specially seasoned salmon steaks. It’s expensive, but when you think about the sheer quality of the dishes, it’s a good value.
Arizona Inn (2200 East Elm Street) is one of the city’s premiere fine dining restaurants. The food is not very exciting, with a menu consisting mostly of classic American dishes. The main attraction though, is not the food, but the restaurant’s classic Southwestern architecture and warm ambiance.
