Tulsa is a quiet city by big city standards.  However, a decent live music scene and a collection of pubs and taverns assure that there will be some excitement most nights of the week.  A high concentration of universities, including the University of Tulsa and branches of both the University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma State University system, assure that the nightlife scene will be both ongoing and affordable.

Budget

Gypsy Coffee House & Cyber Café (303 North Cincinnati Avenue) is one of the best coffee houses in café-happy Tulsa.  There are numerous shops, but this is one of the only ones that stays open late in the Downtown/tourist area.  Gypsy is known for its deserts and espresso beverages, but they also serve a quality cup of plain-old-joe as well.  Free wi-fi access is available inside the café. 

DoubleShot Coffee Company (1730 S Boston Ave) is a roastery and coffee shop that features some of the finest gourmet coffee around.  The quality of their coffee is on par with the offerings of a quality micro-brewery.  This is one of those places where you might ask yourself, "How come I haven't heard of this brand before now?"

McNellie's Public House (409 East 1st Street) is one of the most popular Irish pubs in Tulsa.  The atmosphere is good and the vibe low-key.  In addition to nightly specials on food and beers, there are unique offerings like beer appreciation classes and beer tastings. 

Tulsa City Limits (2117 South Garnett Road) is not the high profile music venue that its similarly named Austin counterpart is.  It is, however, a fun and lively country dance club with two bars and live music every night.  Even if you are not a fan of the musical genre, this is a decent place for a fun night of socializing.

Kilkenny's Irish Pub (1413 East 15th Street) has all the atmosphere of a pub in the Ireland.  They have enough beers on tap to keep even the most discerning hop-head happy.  In addition, the menu and mildly upscale vibe make for a pleasant evening of both eating and drinking.  There is live music on occasion.    

Tiffany's Rose Lounge (100 East 2nd Street) is an upscale lounge with a great drink list and some unique appetizer offerings.  Located in the Adams Mark Hotel, it caters to guests as well as local patrons.  There is often entertainment in the evening, or at least someone at the piano.
