There are many quaint bars are restaurants, but the service can be slow so go to relax and enjoy the atmosphere. The Baths is the most famous beach on the island. There are plenty of hidden caves grottos and pools to be found in around the giant volcanic boulders. Be sure to bring the snorkeling gear. Of course you can always find a place to sail or fish around the island. Do try out the Little Dix Bay Hotel restaurant (although it can be a bit pricey).

There are plenty of cheap flights to Virgin Gorda (with a little research and a lot of persistence). Virgin Gorda Airport (VIJ) only serves smaller plans, but New York or Los Angeles flights into other islands (where you can then boat or fly to Virgin Gorda) can start as low as $250 US.
