Torrance is a city in Los Angeles county that was founded in 1912 (incorporated in 1912) specifically to be a mixed community of industrial and residential. There is no real public transportation in Torrance so it is easiest to get around in a rental car. There is plenty of attractions and entertainment to see and to do while you are visiting Torrance.
The Del Amo Fashion Center is one of the largest malls in the United States (some say second only to the Mall of America) and must do stop for the shopper in the group. The Madrona Marsh is one of the few urban wetlands in the county and has been established on land that was once set aside for oil production. The Torrance Art Museum is located at the Torrance Cultural Arts Center and offers exhibits in modern and contemporary artwork.
The climate is very pleasant in Torrance, like much of the surrounding southern California region. Temperatures all year round stay within about ten degrees (Staying between 65 F and 75F on average). Rainfall amounts are typically highest in the winter months, with January being the wettest.
Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) serves the air travel needs for most of the region. Cheap flights to Torrance can be found through LAX.
