Cape Coral is a younger city in the "Sunshine State" and was only incorporated in 1970. It is built around a system of 400 miles of canals. Many of the houses are built along these canals creating water front properties that are prized in the community. Up until recently, the community was known as a retirement destination. Today the city is alive with family activities, cultural events and many more attractions that make Cape Coral a great place to live and to visit.

There are around 30 parks and facilities managed by the city that offer plenty of sporting and outdoor activities. The climate in Cape Coral is typical for this region of southern Florida with temperatures staying moderately close to the same through out the year. Summer highs climb just above 80F and winger lows stay close to 50F. June through September are the wettest months of the year with an average of around 10 inches falling each month.

There are plenty of cheap flights to Cape Coral through Fort Myers International Airport (FMY). Cheap airline tickets from New York to the area will start well under $200 US. Flying in from Los Angeles will cost slightly more but can still be found starting just under $200 US.

There are a number of cheap hotels in Cape Coral located through out the city and with in a few minutes of downtown. You can find cheap hotel rooms with rates starting under $100 US located near many of the main attractions.
