Pompano Beach, Florida is located in the northern region of Broward County along the Atlantic Coast. The city began to grow after the railroad arrived in 1896. Pompano became incorporated as a city in 1908. Today the main industries in the region are tourism, retail and high tech.
Outdoor activities abound in Pompano Beach. You can enjoy a number of events and festivals throughout the year. The Pompano Beach Amphitheatre is the perfect place to enjoy an outdoor concert. The Stranahan House is a museum of period furnishings housed in a building that was built during the founding of the town. Broward Center for the Performing Arts hosts performances by the Florida Grand Opera, the Florida Philharmonic and the Miami City Ballet.
Pompano Beach offers visitors and residents a very temperate climate. High temperatures through out the year only vary around 10 degrees (between 75F and 85F). Low temperatures have a similar variable (between 50F and 70F). Summers and falls can get a bit wet, so you will likely want to visit in the winter or spring.
There are a number of cheap flights to Pompano Beach through the Fort Lauderdale International Airport (FLL) less than 10 miles from the city. Cheap airline tickets from Los Angeles will start just over $200 US. Flying in from New York you will find cheap airline tickets at even lower prices with rates around $150 US.
