When to Go
High Season
With special events and attractions year round, any time is perfect to visit Nashville. Travelers trek here for musical events (such as the annual CMA Music Festival in mid-June); others visit to take in the city’s unique ambiance, sights and sounds.

Low Season
Though less trafficked during winter, Nashville comes alive for the holiday season. Hundreds of special events and concerts are held at The Grand Ole Opry, Gaylord Opryland Resort and throughout the entire city. No matter when you visit, Nashville has something to offer.

Things to Do
Nashville Shores
Ten minutes from downtown, Nashville Shores is a popular, 385-acre water park offering family-friendly water and land-based activities, including mini-golf, jet ski rentals and plenty of water slides.

The Nashville Zoo at Grassmere
The Nashville Zoo at Grassmere is an indoor and outdoor 200-acre zoo that features exotic animals with different animal shows presented daily.

Cheekwood Botanical Garden and Museum of Art
Visit the historic Cheek estate, which is home to the Cheekwood Botanical Garden and Museum of Art. Explore 55-acres of gorgeously landscaped gardens and view a vast collection of American paintings and sculptures.

Lane Motor Museum
Car buffs will enjoy Nashville’s largest collection of rare, exotic and antique cars, including the largest European classic car collection in the U.S., at the Lane Motor Museum. Over 150 vehicles are on display from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm daily (closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays).

Wildhourse Saloon
At night, the world-famous Wildhorse Saloon is the place to go for dinner, dancing, live music and drinking. The District includes lower Broadway, Second Avenue and Printer’s Alley, where you’ll find great shops and honky tonk bars unique to Nashville.

The Nashville King, Elvis Tribute Show
Elvis fans will especially enjoy A Tribute to the KING: Thru the Years 1953-1977. This high-energy live show has entertained audiences with a powerful tribute to Elvis and his music for over 10 years. You’ll hear more than 30 songs and see no fewer than five classic Elvis wardrobe changes.

Local Attractions
Ryman Auditorium
Built in 1892, the Ryman Auditorium  was the original home of The Grand Ole Opry. Today, the theater is a national historic landmark hosting many concerts throughout the year. Visitors can participate in a behind-the-scenes tour of this beautiful theatre and even record their own CD singing on the Ryman’s stage.

Music City Walk of Fame
Nashville’s Music City Walk of Fame resembles Hollywood’s Walk of Fame. Each star along “Music Mile” pays tribute to someone who has contributed to the world of “The Music City” through song or other music endeavor. “The Music Mile” begins downtown: head west from the Schermerhorn Symphony Center, toward the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, the Nashville Arena, the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame and Museum and the future home of the Gospel Music Hall of Fame and Museum.

RCA Studio B
RCA Studio B is where some of the world’s biggest music legends have recorded their albums. Tours are available daily from the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. This recording studio has been maintained as when artists like Elvis, Dolly Parton, Chet Atkins and Willy Nelson recorded music here. This studio is known as “the home of 1,000 hits.” Between 1957 and the 1970s, over 35,000 songs were recorded here.

Must See Sights
Grand Ole Opry
You don’t need to like Country music to enjoy the shows at the historic Grand Ole Opry. During the day, a guided tour of this historic theatre takes you backstage and directly onto the world-famous stage. The Grand Ole Opry started as a radio broadcast in 1925, and became a launching pad for some of Country’s biggest stars, such as Patsy Cline, Marty Robbins, Roy Acuff and Minnie Pearl.

Gaylord Opryland Resort
For the ultimate Nashville and Country music experience, plan to stay or at least visit, the massive Gaylord Opryland Resort. The hotel has 2,881 guestrooms plus 174 suites. During the holiday season, the Opryland Resort transforms into a winter wonderland, featuring live concerts, activities and decor, including millions of pounds of ice carved into life-sized holiday scenes.

  • Gray Line offers “Discover Nashville” and “Musical Heritage” narrated bus tours, excellent ways to see Nashville. Music City Duck Tours are by land and sea in amphibious vehicles built during WWII. Duck Tours are great entertainment for kids and teens.Special LowFares Tip
  • Drop by the famous Bluebird Café to see up-and-coming artists or famous songwriters debuting their latest work. There’s no cover charge for the early show. This intimate café/lounge is packed solid with locals and tourists so plan on dealing with a crowd.
  • The historic Hatch Show Print poster printing company has used the same printing methods since 1879. It’s famous for concert posters for virtually all of Nashville’s shows and musical performances. Original posters are on display and for sale.

Getting Around
Touring Nashville with a rental car is most convenient. Taxis are available, usually by metered rates; some areas have flat fees (between the airport and the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center, for instance).

The Metropolitan Transit Authority offers scheduled bus service throughout Nashville and surrounding areas. An all-day unlimited ride pass for MTA busses is $4.80 per person. The one-way fare to or from downtown and the airport is under $2.00.
