The Holiday Inn in Lakewood is a budget hotel in suburban Denver.  The hotel is located south of the city's downtown.  All the amenities one would expect from the Holiday Inn brand are found in the Lakewood: tasteful furnishings, plush beds, basic in-room amenities and premium cable.  Upgrading to a club level room or suite means access to free breakfast and evening happy hours  and added amenities like in-room refrigerators.  

Hotel reviews often mention some extras that make this particular budget hotel stand out.  There is free wi-fi throughout the property and an outdoor pool, whirlpool and a sauna.  The hotel also offers complementary shuttle service to attractions within five miles.

Though it is not located in the heart of Denver, this Holiday Inn is a good hotel deal because it is within a short distance of the city and also near to some of the attractions that lie outside the urban core.  

The hiking trails at Bear Creek Canyon are an example of all the nature that can be found just outside Denver's city limits.  There is plenty of green in the city itself.  City Park is a massive 300-plus acre urban park with sports fields, walking trails and golf courses.

Colorado is home to many pro sports franchises.  The Broncos play football at Invesco Field, where the Colorado Rapids play soccer.  The NBA's Denver Nuggets and hockey's Colorado Avalanche host home games at the Pepsi Center.
