Moderately Priced Hotels in San Diego - Ocean Beach Hotel

The Ocean Beach Hotel is a moderately-priced hotel located directly on San Diego's famous Ocean Beach. This hotel has been a mainstay for quite a long time. It was renovated in 2003, but retains its classic elements (the original construction's style was said to have been inspired by villas along the Italian coastline). Oceanfront rooms offer views of the sand and water through large picture windows. While positive hotel reviews often cite the views as a deciding factor, there are in-room amenities that make this a worthwhile place to stay. Free wi-fi, in-room microwave, mini-bar-sized refrigerator, and free parking are other elements that make the Ocean Beach a good hotel deal compared to other moderately-priced hotels in San Diego.
Though there is no in-house restaurant, there are plenty of eateries nearby. Newport Ave is virtually lined with restaurants of every type. San Diego's trademark taco shops are well represented, as are seafood restaurants and pizza parlors. There are also antique shops all along Newport Ave. A Farmer's Market takes place every Wednesday.
Ocean Beach has a pier at one end for fishing and a unique "dog beach" on the other end (a stretch of sand where canines are not only welcome, but catered to as well). Attractions like the San Diego Zoo, SeaWorld and Legoland San Diego show that there is more to experience in S.D. than just the beach.
For tourism information about San Diego in general, visit the city's tourism web site. The Ocean Beach Main Street Association has listings of shops, restaurants and events specific to Ocean Beach.
