The University Hotel (4140 Roosevelt Way NE) is a moderately-priced, 102-room hotel just outside of Downtown Seattle.  Despite its relatively large size, it maintains a neighborhood feel.  It rates make it one of the best hotel deals in the city.  Standard rooms have queen-sized beds and basic amenities like cable TV and coffee makers.  Premium rooms include microwaves and sleeper sofas in addition to larger beds.  Many of the premium rooms offer a view of Downtown Seattle and the campus of the University of Washington.    

The lobby of this moderately-priced hotel offers guest-friendly services including a continental breakfast and afternoon snack.  The décor is enhanced with artwork created by local artists.  The atmosphere is warm enough that many guests give a positive hotel review to the University Hotel. The in-house restaurant, the Portage Bay Café serves quality, organic food for breakfast and lunch.  More upscale dining can be found at nearby eateries like Ivar's Salmon House and Mama Melina Ristorante Italiano.   

In addition to the pleasant vibe of the University of Washington, there are several worthwhile attractions on campus.  In addition to outdoor hangout spots like the Quad, there are some notable museums. The Burke Museum is a natural history museum and the Henry Art Gallery is one of the city's finest showrooms for contemporary art.  

The nearby Pioneer Square District boasts a historic vibe because of its Victorian architecture.  This is the perfect place to find Seattle's quirky, independent-minded spirit.  There are more than 30 high quality art galleries and over 100 independently owned shops and boutiques in the Pioneer Square area.
