Travel Predictions for 2008
Travel Predictions for 2008
Travel experts have some interesting predictions for the new year. Here are a few; let's hope that only some hold true.
Airline analysts speculate that you should see less airfare increases, but that airlines will also reduce the number of low cost seats. More and more airlines will only accept debit or credit cards for in-flight purchases. Many airlines will also test out on-board text messaging and internet access. All of this will absolutely come with a cost to you though.
The new "Open Skies" agreement allows nearly a half-dozen carriers to add direct flights to Heathrow from Los Angeles, Atlanta, JFK, Newark, Houston, Philadelphia and Dallas. Effective in March, such an agreement would stable and possibly even lower fares between Europe and the U.S.
Notice an increase of in-flight amenities these days? Don't expect that to slow down a bit. Passengers may be asked to pay more for reserved seating, additional baggage checked, toiletries, socks, better blankets and food. Don't be surprised if you start to see airlines offer an in-flight mani-pedi or facial either.
Top 10 U.S. destinations for 2008 are: Las Vegas; Orlando, Fla; Honolulu; Maui, Hawaii; New York; Phoenix/Scottsdale, Arizona; Anchorage, Alaska; Washington D.C.; Kauai, Hawaii and Miami.
