Atlantic City gets an extreme makeover
Atlantic City gets an extreme makeover
There’s a revenue downturn in Atlantic City, luckily the city has come up with a surefire way that sounds promising to say the least. Three new casino hotel towers and more than 2,500 additional rooms should do the fix, right?
Ask anyone, and everyone will tell you it’s pretty difficult booking a hotel room for the weekend in Atlantic city. In 2008, you’ll see three new hotel towers open, the Tropicana Casino and Resort get a new owner, and gambling halls start to bounce back from the beating out of state slots parlors put on them in 2007.
You’ll see Atlantic City reinvent itself as the hipper national destination resort, all to ward off competition from Pennsylvania and New York slots parlors. Figures that should be released this Thursday will show that 2007 was the first year in the 30-year history of casino gambling in Atlantic City where revenues did not increase from the previous year. This is largely due to out of state competitor slots parlors and a partial smoking ban that restricted patrons from smoking in 75% of the casino floor.
