Business in the Front, Amenities on the Rise
Friday, March 20th, 2009
The airlines may be cutting back on many of the basics for customer service, but all hope is not lost. It seems that some of the business class amenities are growing. American Airlines is just one of the companies that are looking to draw more business by upping the stacks for the business class traveler. Since business traveling is one of those areas that seem least affected by the economy (although it is taking a hit) then the strategy should prove to be a winning decision.
What Business Travelers Get
A new seat designed for maximum flexibility and control. You can lie flat to get some sleep, lean back and relax or sit up and get some work done. The seat can even be programmed with a memory feature.
The expanded tray lets you use the tray located between the seats, the one on the back of the seat in front of you or lock both trays together to create one large work or dining surface.
Access the news or entertainment with your own in-seat monitor. You can watch movies, play games, listen to music or watch TV. You can also get noise canceling headphones to enjoy the ultimate in in-flight entertainment.
More privacy. The seats come with dividers that can be raised to allow you to close out the seats around you.
More Comfort. Forget those tiny, towels like blankets of the past. Enjoy a soft, quilted duvet that is designed to make your flight as comfortable as possible. You also get an amenity kit that provides items like a shoe bag, socks, eye shades and other personal products.
Traveling in business class may not be as expensive as first class but it still comes at a price that is around three times that of the economy seats. The additional amenities that are provided to first class today may make the upgrade worth the price on some long distance flights.
