Fun and Adventure Marks the Contraband Days Festival

This year it begins on April 28 and runs through May 10, 2009. All of the events are held around the Lake Charles Civic Center grounds. Each year around 100,000 people attend the festival on land and on the water. The festival offers events and activities that the whole family will love - from carnival rides (with passes starting at $15) to costume and BBQ contests.

Thursday, April 30th is the day that the carnival rides open. It also marks the opening of the pirate marketplace. This year the festival will be hosting Percy Sledge in concert.
Friday, May 1st is the opening of the McDonald's laser tag and also begins the ACTS theatre presentations. Be on the look out for some buccaneers to make their presence known.
Thursday, May 7th is Family Night and kids in the 8th grade and under are admitted for free. It is also the day of the Great American Duck Race.
Friday, May 8th offers more Duck Races, buccaneers and a performance by "Whiskey South," and "Wade Bowen."
Saturday, May 9th is the day of the Cajun Pirate Barbeque Cook-off, the sailboat regatta, a dance off and even more live concerts.
Finding accommodations for the event will not be difficult or costly. Rooms can start as low as $50 per night. Camping sites can run around $20 per night.
These are only a few of the events and activities available at the Contraband Days Festival in Lake Charles, Louisiana. With all of the fun, adventure, excitement, music and food there is sure to be something that will delight each and every member of the family.
