Things to do in Los Angeles in the Summer

Los Angeles is the place to come to see the stars - no matter what time of day you go looking. But there is much more to this city than Hollywood. It is a city rich with culture and excitement. The summer season just offers the events just bring focus to all that the city has to offer.

Early June is when you will find the Los Feliz Village Street Fair. The event is a full day of live entertainment, great shopping and lots of fun for the whole family. You will have a chance to enjoy food, art and community in this outdoor event.

Venice Beach is a must experience. The area is alive with surfing, sunbathing, and just hanging out. The weather is perfect and of course it "never rains in Southern California." Be sure to take a leisurely stroll along the boardwalk and see what sights you can see.

The Los Angeles Film Festival is held in late June. The event is held for ten days and features some of the best American and International productions. There are literally hundreds of screenings and is a great place for critics, scholars, artists and fans to all come together.

The Hollywood Bowl comes to life during the summer season. Take a picnic to enjoy before the concert. It is a great treat under any circumstances, but often seats can start as low as $1.

The Nisei Week Japanese Festival celebrates the culture and traditions of the people from that region. It is a full week of commemorating the "new American" - one that is racially of the Orient, but a true and loyal citizen of the United States. It first started back in 1934.
