The Miami Dade County Fair and Exposition: It's called "The Fair" by locals, and is one of the largest celebrations of the season. Head here for traditional fair food, carnival rides and activities around the fairgrounds. The expo center is located at the intersection of Coral Way and SW 112th Avenue in Miami.
Earth Day Kickoff: Head to the restaurants in downtown Miami to celebrate Earth Day with educational booths and exhibits that offer tips on how to protect the environment, and some great local eats. Earth Day is celebrated on April 22, but the restaurants and stores in downtown Miami celebrate Earth Day all week long.
The Great Sunrise Balloon Race: Get the family up bright and early to see the spectacular balloon launches, followed by a grand pancake breakfast outside. The event is one of the largest community gatherings of the season, and is a great way to enjoy the outdoors. The race takes place at Kendall/Tamiami Airport in Miami.
The Miami Dragon Boat Festival: This free event is your chance to see talented boat racers in action as they careen across the ocean around Miami Beach. The festival takes place at the end of May each year, and the race begins at Brickell Key on Miami shores.
The Tropical Fern & Exotic Plant Society Show and Sale: Head to the Fairchild Tropical Garden at the end of May to enjoy this grand exhibit of tropical ferns and exotic plants. You can also pick up a few beautiful plants for your garden at this once-a-year event.
