Allentown, Pennsylvania Showcases Their Talents
Friday, May 15th, 2009
Mayfair will be held from Thursday May21 through Monday May 25. The hours vary from slightly from one day to the next but usually run until 11 pm. The event is family friendly and lawn chairs and blankets are encouraged. Picnic food is not allowed in the event in an effort to support the many food vendors who help make Mayfair a reality. There is no dress code for the event by comfortable clothing and shoes are encouraged. Parents are free to bring along strollers for their children.
The event goes on no matter what Mother Nature decides to throw at it. Only safety hazards, such as lightning or other severe weather, will cause a cancellation or delay of the event. Tickets can be purchased in advance and are full-festival passes (meaning they are good for the entire festival). Tickets are only $5 at the gate or $4 if purchased before the festival begins. That means you can get a full day of entertainment for around $1 per day if you attend the full Mayfair.
This year Mayfair will also host The Moving Wall - the half size replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington D.C. The wall is free for anyone to visit. Other activities and performance of Mayfair include Discovery Day (May 22 from 10 am to 2 pm) which helps educate young people about the importance of the arts, puppet theater, dance presentations, dramatic performances and lots of musical entertainment.
