40% Discounts in Hawaii

Tuesday, June 2nd, 2009

Great deals can be had this summer even in those locations that you have always wanted to visit.  Out of the way sites are not the only way to stretch your vacation budget.  Many top tourist locations are pulling out all the tricks in an effort to boost dwindling tourism.

Hawaii is one of those hot spots.  Discounts and incentives are two of the main tools that the tourist supported industries are focusing on in hopes of parting travelers with their money.  It can be especially tough drawing families, so creative incentives (like a Nintendo Wii for free use while staying) are being included.

The discounts are some of the best that the industry has seen.  Hotel rooms are sitting empty which translates to good news for the cash strapped travelers.  Hotel revenues have dropped around 20% because even those visitors that do make it to the islands are spending less (and staying for shorter periods).

Some of the deals that can be found include 40% discounts on rooms (with prices down to as low as $88 per night) at Aston Hotels & Resorts to $1000 resort credit at the Four Seasons Resort Haulalai on the Big Island (although rooms START at $725 per night).

Times are tough for the tourism industry in Hawaii and many of the hotels are doing all that they can just to stay in business.  The savvy shopper can probably use the empty rooms at hotels to get even better deals than are currently advertised.  Getting any thing for a room is better than having it sit empty.

The best thing to do when it comes to booking your vacation in Hawaii is to contact the hotel directly after searching for discounts on the internet.  Ask the hotel manager what other specials are available and book directly through the hotel and not an 800 number.
